The UK Responsible Person role
What a UK Responsible Person does.
A UK Responsible Person is a role defined by the UK Medical Devices Regulations 2002. Actomed is registered with the MHRA as the UK Responsible Person for the manufacturer of ChondroFiller, and is named on the MHRA register in that role.
In that role, Actomed keeps the manufacturer’s technical documentation available to the MHRA, cooperates with the MHRA on vigilance and passes on any incident reports it receives to the manufacturer.

Why Actomed supplies it
Why Actomed supplies ChondroFiller in the UK.
Professor Paul Lee chose to bring ChondroFiller to the UK himself, through Actomed, a company he directs and has a financial interest in.
Actomed holds the UK Responsible Person role for the manufacturer, supplies UK clinics, trains their teams and handles product questions and safety reports.
Professor Lee directs Actomed, which supplies ChondroFiller in the UK, and has a financial interest in it.
What Actomed does not do
Three things Actomed does not do.
The clinics in the group buy Mytocel MSK and ChondroFiller from Actomed at trade price and pay for them like any other supply. Patients are told of the interest. Alternatives are always discussed, including treatments that do not use these products and the option of doing nothing yet, and every patient is free to seek a second opinion. Actomed does not treat patients, does not pay clinicians to use its products, and does not promote uses outside the approved indications.
